MySiteCheck.ca
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how MySiteCheck (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use mysitecheck.ca, place an order for our website audit services, or contact us. It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, which explain service scope, confidentiality commitments that affect how we handle your website information, and related obligations.
1. Who we are
We are the team behind MySiteCheck, operating as a sole proprietorship based in British Columbia, Canada, under the business name MySiteCheck.ca. For privacy inquiries, contact [email protected].
2. Applicable law
We collect and handle personal information in accordance with Canada's federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) where it applies to our activities. This Policy supplements the privacy summary in Section 13 of our Terms and Conditions.
3. Personal information we collect
We collect only what we reasonably need to provide our Services, communicate with you, and meet legal or security requirements.
3.1 When you place an order
Depending on how checkout is configured, this may include your name, email address, the Target Website URL (and any additional page URLs or Competitor URLs you submit), billing-related identifiers, and payment confirmation details. As stated in our Terms, we do not store your payment card numbers on our servers; payments are processed by Stripe, which receives the card data needed to complete the transaction under Stripe's own privacy policy and terms.
3.2 When you contact us
If you use the contact form on mysitecheck.ca, we collect your name, email address, and message content so we can respond. Submissions are verified using hCaptcha (Intuition Machines, Inc.) to reduce spam; the captcha process may involve processing technical data as described in hCaptcha's privacy documentation. Messages are delivered to us using Resend's email delivery service.
3.3 When we deliver Reports
We use the email address you provide to send PDF reports, CSV exports, and related communications described in our Terms (for example, delivery within the stated business hours).
3.4 Information generated during audits
To produce your Report, we process publicly available data about the URLs you submit (for example technical signals, lab performance metrics, and content visible without logging in). We may use third-party tools and APIs as part of our analysis workflow. We do not require access to your hosting account, CMS, or analytics dashboards unless you voluntarily provide it.
3.5 Website and technical data
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically log limited technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention. We do not use third-party advertising or behavioural tracking cookies on this site for marketing profiling.
4. How we use personal information
- To provide, deliver, and support the Services you purchase;
- To communicate with you about your Order, Report, refunds, or support requests;
- To verify checkout acknowledgements (including agreement to our Terms) where applicable;
- To detect fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms (including orders relating to websites you are not authorised to submit);
- To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests;
- To improve our tools and processes in aggregate, without selling your personal information.
5. When we share personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We may share information with service providers who assist us in operating the business, strictly as needed for their function:
- Payment processing — Stripe (payment authorisation and receipts);
- Email delivery — for example Resend (contact form notifications and, where applicable, operational email);
- Spam and abuse prevention — hCaptcha;
- Hosting and infrastructure — the platform that hosts mysitecheck.ca and our API routes;
- Analysis tools — third-party APIs or cloud services used only to perform the technical and AI-assisted steps described in your Service.
These providers process data under contractual terms and their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of MySiteCheck, our clients, or the public.
This aligns with the confidentiality commitment in our Terms: we do not share the content of your Report or your URLs for unrelated commercial purposes. Limited sharing with subprocessors is solely to deliver the Service.
6. International processing
Some service providers (including Stripe, Resend, or hCaptcha) may process or store information in the United States or other countries. Where personal information is transferred outside Canada, we rely on appropriate safeguards as permitted under PIPEDA/PIPA (such as contractual clauses or the service provider's compliance program). By using our Services, you understand that such processing may occur.
7. Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution needs. Order and communication records may be kept for a reasonable period (for example, multiple years) unless a longer period is required by law. You may ask us to delete certain information subject to legal exceptions.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords and to protect your email account, since Reports are delivered by email.
9. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of your personal information in our control. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions (for example, we may need to retain certain Order records).
To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If you believe we have not addressed your concern, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, as applicable.
10. Children's privacy
Our Services are intended for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of majority without appropriate parental or guardian authority.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted at mysitecheck.ca/privacy with an updated effective date. Material changes will be reflected here; continued use of the site or Services after an update may be subject to the revised Policy where permitted by law.
